Aarviken was founded in 2024 by Dávid Gurbaľ, a Biomedical Engineering student at the Technical University of Košice, with the goal of bringing custom-made eyewear to the Slovak and Czech markets.

Its main motto is :

“SO THAT WEARING GLASSES IS NEVER UNCOMFORTABLE AGAIN.”

Let’s take a look at the whole process together - it’s simple.

1.STEP

In the first step, you’ll be scanned using a 3D scanner. The scan takes only a moment and allows us to create a perfect frame tailored precisely to your measurements.

2.STEP

In the next step, you’ll choose a frame design that best matches your style and personality, along with your favorite color and, if you wish, engraving.

3.STEP

Everything else is on us. Using 3D printing technology - innovative and environmentally friendly - we’ll create your custom-made frame with outstanding precision.

Achievements

Aarviken has successfully reached the finalist stage in several startup accelerators, including the TECHNICOM University Science Park, the Innovation Centre of the Košice Region, and the Slovak University Startup Cup 2025.

Partners

We are proud to collaborate with the Technical University of Košice, as well as with Biomedical Engineering, a company specializing in the production of 3D-printed implants for living organisms.

We have also established a partnership with AgnesOptik, a family-run optician with more than 30 years of tradition in the heart of Košice, led by experienced optician and optometrist Miroslav Kvapil.

He has been helping his parents with lens edging since he was a child. It’s no surprise, then, that his first job was in the family optician’s practice. He later gained more than 14 years of experience at the prestigious French optical company Essilor International, where he focused on ophthalmic lenses and product consulting. In recognition of his professionalism, he was awarded “Best Sales Representative for Eastern Europe.”

Alongside his career, he completed studies in opticianry and optometry in Košice, pursued university studies in psychology in Bratislava, and—aiming to deepen his understanding of business and economics—also completed a second degree through Nottingham Trent University in Brno.
